Award Winning Author Offers Creative Writing Workshops for Students
Renton, WA —Feb. 9 , 2009—Derek Munson, Award Winning Author of the Book Enemy Pie, will be visiting Apollo Elementary on February 19, 2009. “We are looking forward to meeting an award winning author who can share his enthusiasm for writing with students,” said Janet Randall, Apollo Elementary.
In addition to writing, Munson has been doing Enemy Pie Workshops and Presentations for children for more than six years. He has presented to more than 100,000 students at public schools, private schools and libraries. The book Enemy Pie, springs to life through Munson’s interactive presentations. His presentations include discussions on the subjects of creative writing, friendship and imagination.
Throughout our public schools, the current focus is on the importance of teaching writing strategies. With the recent reductions of many school art programs, getting artists and authors in front of students is a tremendous motivational tool.
